Published Company Analysis international IDC’s latest statistics on smartphone sales worldwide for the first quarter of 2019. According to these data, Samsung is still the leader, and Huawei showed steady growth.
In the quarter, 310.8 million smartphones were sold, of which 71.9 million (23.1%) were from Samsung, 59.1 million (19%) from Huawei, 36.4 million (11.7%) from Apple. Next comes Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo, whose shares were 8%, 7.5%, and 7.4%, respectively. All other companies accounted for 23.2% or about 72.1 million smartphones sold.
Compared to the first quarter of the previous year, Huawei showed steady growth in the top three, leading to sales improvement by more than 50%. Samsung lost 8.1% while Apple lost 30.2%. Total equipment sold during the quarter decreased by 6.6%
If this trend persists, Huawei may soon be emerging as a leader in smartphone sales.
